Insight Out was on view on 6 and 12 January 2018 as the third episode of the collaboration in the theatre hall of the Mousonturm. The installation stood as a square room within a room in the middle of the black box and divided the hall into two areas. Inside was a walk-in, multi-walled hybrid of club and sculpture where people danced for two nights. Outside remained a surrounding space from which the construction and its interior could be viewed. At the centre of the cube, in a separate room of its own, were the DJ booth and a bar that could only be reached across the dance floor.

The walls were covered with gauze. From outside, different light sources made the individual layers visible; from inside, the lighting made it impossible to see what lay beyond. The installation thus divided the black box both spatially and socially. Those standing outside could watch what happened behind the translucent walls unnoticed. Those dancing inside were being watched themselves.

The installation also exposed its technology and construction. Cables, light sources and support elements from the theatre's own stock hung visibly on the outer walls. The theatre technology that usually stays in the background became part of the work and pointed to the place where it stood. The interior remained free of technology. It was an empty, white-cube-like situation that was only filled by the visitors.

Anyone entering the installation found themselves in this reversal of inside and outside, which the title already alludes to. The music on both evenings came from the collectives HardWorkSoftDrink and Hotel International.
